“In a warmer climate, wet years get wetter and dry years get dryer. And dry years get hotter — that is precisely what happened in Iowa this year, “ said Chris Anderson, Research Assistant Professor, Climate Science Program at Iowa State University.

Weather is a fascinating thing to watch here in Iowa.

IOWA CLIMATE STATEMENT: The Drought of 2012

Last fall 138 Iowa scientists signed  IOWA CLIMATE STATEMENT: The Drought of 2012. This statement makes interesting reading in light of our unusual weather. For example, as I write this post on May 3, we are getting some heavy wet snow in central Iowa.
